So this has been an earworm for quite a while and it is very catchy - More about this later

Hey there, fellow music-movin' educators! It's hard to believe another school year is waltzing out the door. A hard, complicated year to say the least. Looking forward to better times ahead for all of us.

Before we all head off for some well-deserved rest (and maybe some beachside serenades?), let's take a moment to reflect on the amazing things we accomplished with music and movement in our classrooms.

This year, we’ve explored countless ways to incorporate music and movement into our classrooms to enhance English acquisition. From rhythm games to interactive songs, we've seen how these methods not only make learning fun but also help students grasp complex language concepts with ease. I am thrilled to hear how many of you have embraced these strategies and witnessed remarkable improvements in your students' engagement and proficiency.

This Year's Greatest Hits:

We rocked out some killer vocabulary lessons with catchy tunes and action verbs galore!

We saw fluency take flight with movement activities that got students up and speaking.

We fostered a love for language through the joy of rhythm and melody.

Encore! Here are some of your favorite blog resources from this year:

And the Award for Most Creative Digital Idea Goes To...

There have been many tools presented here but I do believe that Padlet and Canva deserve this award.

But wait, there's more! Before you hit pause on your lesson plans, here are some ideas to keep the music alive during summer break:

Encourage students to create their own music videos related to their favorite books.

Introduce them to educational music platforms that make learning fun.

Plan a family dance party with music from different cultures!

Explanation about the first video

I was enthralled the first time I heard it and I thought how easy it is to learn a foreign language through song.

Feli gives a length explanation here about the rap song in its entirety

Here is an English version

Or the translated German version

If you are connected to social media you will be happy to see many people dancing to this song as well.

My happy corner - Smile of the week

I like to find instances that involve music / movement that make me smile.

You are my sunshine

This is so gorgeous - I really do believe that it will be alright - eventually .

Did you know?

Science has established that 'Don't stop me now' by Queen is the song that can make you feel better.

'Don't Stop Me Now' by Queen wins first place in the ranking of songs that have a positive impact on mood.

According to a study conducted by cognitive neuroscientist Jacob Jolij of the University of Groningen, this famous track is the most encouraging in the world.

The research, commissioned by a well-known electronics brand, analyzed various factors, including the beats per minute, the key, and the chords of the song. According to Jolij, combining these elements gives the formula for the perfect 'feel-good song'.

Here are the top 10 songs that put you in a good mood according to the study:

Queen, "Don't Stop Me Now"

ABBA, "Dancing Queen"

Beach Boys, "Good Vibrations"

Billy Joel, "Uptown Girl"

Survivor, "Eye of the Tiger"

The Monkees, "I'm a Believer"

Cyndi Lauper, "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun"

Bon Jovi, "Livin' on a Prayer"

Gloria Gaynor, "I Will Survive"

Katrina & the Waves, "Walking on Sunshine"

From the field

Thanks to Erica and Mira from Shay Agnon in Kfar Saba who shared this amazing video of their pupils singing.

And to Yasmin from Al Salam school in Abu Gosh for this rendition of A Million Dreams. The children are very sweet as they sing with all their hearts.

Musical Joke of the Week

The fact that the company that makes “Head and Shoulders” doesn’t make a liquid soap for knees and toes is something I will never be able to understand.

The Final Note:

Thank YOU for being part of this amazing community of music-loving educators. Your dedication and creativity inspire me every single day. Remember, even though school's out, the power of music to enhance learning never stops playing. Here's to a restful summer and a rocking new school year!

See you next school year!
