English Version

A pure earworm - since my last broadcast - I cannot get this song out of my head. So I did a little digging and this is what I found.

There are different versions with an English verse, a Spanish verse, and an Arabic verse as well.

Here is the story behind the song.

“Spontaneity is often celebrated, but there's clearly something powerful about joining in with someone else's words. Maybe Coldplay have stumbled upon a perfect combination, modeling crafting your own prayer alongside joining in with a corporate refrain?” Robin Ham

Suggestion: In class you can ask the pupils to write their own verse and present it to the class. In light of the current situation in our country, what would you like to wish for?

“We pray” with the Arabic Verse

“We pray” with the Spanish Verse

Highlight

Coldplay with Mzansi Youth Choir.

I personally cannot wait for this version to be released.

I hope your earworm is as pleasant as mine.

Learn in Tune

What is Learn in Tune and how can you join?

I am often asked what the program is? It is in Gefen, yet it is for free. What do we get if we sign up?

Here is an explanation…

When you use music in classes to enhance language acquisition you are Learning in Tune.

When you move and dance to English songs you are Learning in Tune.

When you listen to a song, learn the words and create exercises about the song you are Learning in Tune.

When you chant in English or repeat things with rhythm you are Learning in Tune.

I am sure you get the picture.

However this is not all there is. There are bi-weekly broadcasts with a wealth of information and there will be a PD development course opening up soon.

However if this is not enough - here is some more to read up on

would check out these YouTube channels for best song choices

DJ Raphi

Learning Station

Cocomelon - May be a little babyish

I prompted Youtube to look for schools in EFL classes.

I am sure there are many more sites to choose from.

I also want to show off my school 🎞🎥📼

Quotes about learning

“The capacity to learn is a gift; the ability to learn is a skill; the willingness to learn is a choice.”

Brian Herbert - American Author

“We now accept the fact that learning is a lifelong process of keeping abreast of change. And the most pressing task is to teach people how to learn.”

Peter Drucker Austrian American Educator

“You can teach a student a lesson for a day; but if you can teach him to learn by creating curiosity, he will continue the learning process as long as he lives.”
