It's Friday and that means it's time for an update. It's the little things make me happy. This week I found a wealth of folk songs on a site called folksongindex.com.

A fair warning - You might spend a lot of time on this site reminiscing as you sing and remember the songs of yester-year

For a full list of the songs - click on the link

A huge shoutout to the newcomers to this list who joined after participating in the webinar that was held last week. We joined forces with the national reading and speaking programs for a session about, "How to Engage Young Learners at the Pre-Foundation Level" and to show what can be done to encourage reading, speaking and singing in the early years of learning English. There were many teachers and the webinar was a huge success. We will be doing another session on Sunday at 16:00 on the 1st of November

Who can resist a good DAD joke?

Keeping tropical fish in your home has a calming effect on the brain because of the indoor fins.

Indoor fins=endorphins.

I say this because singing is a natural antidepressant. According to information published in Time magazine, singing may release endorphins associated with feelings of pleasure as well as stimulate the release of oxytocin, a hormone that is found to alleviate anxiety and stress.

Without a doubt, singing and music is what is getting me through these crazy times and especially Youtube has provided me with hours of singing and enjoyment.

Youtube recently came out with YOUTUBE KIDS -

YouTube Kids was created to give kids a more contained environment that makes it simpler and more fun for them to explore on their own, and easier for parents to guide the children. Available on all platforms.

Digital Tool of the Week

A collaborative platform for your classes, conferences and training sessions. Intuitive and simple, Wooclap makes your presentations interactive.

It is free for elementary and secondary teachers.

Finally - A nice idea and songlist for the weekend. When waiting for your Zoom participants to come in, open youtube and share computer sound - You can share a welcome screen but the important part is the soft background muisc. It has a jhuge calming effect on the participants.

I like to use Disney Piano Music
