Happy Birthday to all the special people born in October and to all of us that are Libras. Wishing us all a very happy birthday. I start with this as there are so many things one can do in the classroom around birthdays.
We should not just be celebrating October birthdays. Happy birthday to all of you on your special day.
Ideas for classroom birthdays to make each student feel special.
Jodi of “Cutter Free classroom” shares her ideas.
The important thing is to keep track of the birthdays and celebrate all the students’ birthdays. Be consistent throughout the year and you are on the way to make your students feel special.
Create a birthday dance, use a birthday song from this playlist
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fTbEpGZyseA&list=PLxkAPMnIW7_Ukr-Z5nmjE7By8bhfupaMK and enjoy singing and moving in English as we give the birthday students of the month, the English lesson they will never forget.
There are so many options. One can even search YouTube for personal birthday greetings. This maybe more challenging with Hebrew/Arabic names.
The last few weeks have been joyous for Broadway as shows slowly start to recover and come out of the woodwork.
An emotional start for the “Lionking”
Watch their rehearsal and promo for their “revival” recently
Now watch the “Circle of Life” being performed in New York. Amazing singers and costumes with spectacular voices.
When we sing and when we sing with enjoyment, it is always accompanied with a smile. On my school visits, I love watching the students laugh, chuckle, and have fun with English. This is language acquisition in a great way and an excellent supplement to English lessons. One of the Youtube channels that I have recently been introduced to is, “The Singing Walrus”.
Lots of great songs, ideas for elementary school children

All the details will be posted in the next update.
As you may be aware, the Stayuptodate site has been moved and everything is in the Portal of the Ministry of Education. I like the new look and the wealth of activities, updates and pedagogy in one site. The beauty is that it is organized according to grade level as well. I am yet to search for something and not find it.

Digital Tool of the Week
YouTube Channels and Playlists
Did you know that once you have a Gmail account, you can create a YouTube channel? I am not suggesting that you become a Youtuber overnight, yet you can post your own videos if you wish. However, the added bonus is that you can subscribe to channels and create playlists.
This means that you do not have to search through the millions of videos, each time you want to find a certain song, you can just add the song to a playlist that you have created. You can even collaborate with colleagues to create your own school/class playlist.
Here is an explanation
When you subscribe to a certain channel, you will receive updates every time a video is added to the playlist.
Musical Joke of the Week
My favourite allergy song is “Blowin it the Wind” by Peter, Pollen Mary.
