“Morning has Broken” – a beautiful Christian hymn first published in 1932 by Elaeanor Farjeon and later became identified as belonging to Cat Stevens (Yusuf Islam) due to its popularity and success. I remember this song from my primary school years singing this beautiful song. It brings back warm, happy memories and I hope that you enjoy it. What a great way to start the day.
Lots of exciting news and special announcements and you, fellow educators, get to hear it first.
E-Talent Competition
Yes, the word is out and the competition is at its start. Registration has begun and this is how it is going to work.
Each school will be allowed to send 5 performances only. This means that if you have more acts in the competition, you will need to have a mini E-talent competition in your school to find the performances that you want to submit. All the information will be sent out in a few days via your inspectors and counsellors. If you would like to register already please fill in this form. https://forms.gle/s6emerborkmPra9e6
Within a few days of registration, you will receive a unique code for Flipgrid, for your school. Your recordings will be uploaded to Flipgrid and that is how we will receive your students’ amazing submissions.
Learn in Tune (E-Talent) will be presenting this competition alongside the National Readers’ Theatre Program all over the country in the next few weeks. Look out for our presentations so that you and your students can be a part of this magic.
This week will see another Learn in Tune professional development course come to an end. Many inspired teachers will be singing, chanting and more in their classes, enhancing their English lessons with grooves and moves. Thank you to all that took part, and we will be opening our 4th Learn in Tune professional development course in December. Here are the details to register
There are other English courses as well that can be found at this link.
Double Whammy
You win some and you lose some – I say win or learn – you never lose
Every time I send out a broadcast, I see that few teachers leave the WhatsApp group 😢 and some join 😉. No one left the WhatsApp group after the last broadcast and that makes me very happy. I am not criticizing, just trying to understand. I try and send a special message to those that leave just to find out why and how I can create content that is relevant for all of us. I know that these are admin-controlled groups, but this doesn’t mean you can’t write a personal message sharing ideas and suggestions. A huge thank you to all LIT followers.
Digital Tool of the week
Tolstoy
It is great how apps created for the business sector are adapted by educators to be used in our classes. Tolstoy is a game changer and in short gives you, the teacher the option to add clickable options on your videos for your pupils to respond directly to you. Pupils can respond with audio, video, text and even be sent to an external link. Did I mention that it was free as well?
Thanks to Hili Zavarro for the amazing explanation.
Musical Jokes for the week
There are two jokes today – The first is a pun that is a serious public service announcement
Cher sang if only I could turn back time – Well you can.
Turnback time one hour this Sunday
“Cher” this with your friends.
The second is seriously a joke
I joined a carpenter’s class the other day. We haven’t made anything yet…
We’ve only just begun.
Looking out my window, seeing the dewfall on the grass, I would like to leave you with this fantastic cover of “Morning has Broken” by the “Mona Lisa Twins”
