E-Talent is on my mind. And what better way to celebrate young talent with Connie Talbot.
Connie Victoria Elizabeth Talbot (born 20 November 2000)[1] is an English singer. In 2007, she was the runner-up of the first series of Britain's Got Talent. She then signed with Rainbow Recording Company and released her debut album Over the Rainbow on 26 November 2007, which has sold over 250,000 copies worldwide and reached number one in three countries. She is just one of millions of young stars that have achieved fame with their talent.
She was coined as “pure magic” by Simon Cowell. She has talent yet she has something else that I admire. Courage and willingness to show her talent.
That is where E-Talent comes in. To push our courageous and willing pupils to show off their English talent and skills. We can do it - all the information can be found here.
Thank you to all the teachers that joined our sessions about this and “Readers’ Theater” Please browse all the information. Schools have begun to register and the competition is in motion. Make sure you follow the guidelines as we cannot accept late entries.
Schools around the country stood together against violence this week and I received a few requests for songs against violence. I prefer to focus on the positive yet we have to take a stand against bullies and all sorts of violence. Here is a list of songs about friendship, loyalty, respect and to stand up against violence.

Learn in Tune Projects
I want to share two amazing projects with you. Teachers that have incorporated amazing initiatives with music and English in their classrooms.
Adrienne Assouline and Ortal Agen have crossed borders and run a joint project with pupis from a school in Kenya. They chose the song by Mark Shepard - “Together we can change the world”
Both classes have been learning the words and collaborating together.
Here are the two versions
Kenya
Israel - Amichai School Kvutzat Yavneh
The second project is run by DiklaHi,
My name is Dikla and I’m the coordinator at Darca Yeshiva in Netivot.
I would like to share with you two musical projects.
The first one - Our 10 graders. The song is with reference to the poem Count That Day Lost which they’ve learned.
The second - some of our JH students. 7th and 8th mostly.
Well done to all of you.
Professional Development
Yesterday I was privileged to join a mini - hackathon at Microsoft in Herzliya with the National English Inspectorate, החטיבה לחדשנות טכנולוגית במשרד החינוך Start and Microsoft. The future is here and the digital world is progressing and improving all the time. It is our duty as educators to embrace this world and see where we can utilise these sources to our benefit as educators. There are so many channels to check and so many avenues to walk down. I feel that this is something we can do together and what better way then professional development, or as I like to call it - life long learning. Choose a PD course near you via your Pisgah or join the many online courses available. You can even choose to get a free online session via Lnet. Click here for details. https://mekuvanim.lnet.org.il/
