“Sail on silver girl, sail on by...your time has come to shine all, your dreams are on their way...see how they shine..oh and if you need a friend. I'm sailing right behind......”

Simon and Garfunkel

Last week I was fortunate to watch the performance of the Simon and Garfunkel Story. It is not often that I can go to a concert, sit in the audience and know all the words of all the songs. This got me thinking.

How is it that I know all the words? Some of the songs are over 40 years old. I must have heard these songs over and over again. This amplifies the notion of how important songs and lyrics are for language acquisition and vocabulary retention. When these songs came out, the 1950’s were like old times. Now we are ironically further away in years from these songs and they do not feel ancient. How life has changed! I only wish that we can impart some of these amazing songs of yesteryear onto our children so that they will be able to enjoy and understand the epic music that was.

One of my favourite Simon and Garfunkel Tune -The Boxer

E-Talent That's a wrap

This week marks the end of teachers and children submitting their videos for E-Talent. We are so amazed at the talent and the level of the videos. It is going to be very hard for the judges to decide. In our eyes all the children that produced oral presentations for E-Talent are winners. You guys exceeded our wildest expectations. This year we have 200 more videos than last year and over 1500 children taking part from all over the country. The winners will be announced later on in the year.

Very good reading and very much what Learn in Tune is about.

Final Reminder - Cyber-Safety Week

The Cyber-Safety Week will be run in all schools in Israel this coming week.

Here are words to the chant we created and below is the song and the backing track. https://docs.google.com/document/d/1utTQjJAqKcf99uJLmM6ffEYFyFskXhBLFVrShofFtGM/edit?usp=sharing

Have a listen and enjoy. Sing it with your pupils at school and send us videos of them singing this song. Be safe on the web!

I am so happy that some schools have sent me their recordings of their students doing wonders with this song. Unfortunately I cannot share yet, you are going to have to take my word for it. It shows me more and more how important singing and moving are in the classroom. Students may not remember the grammar rules and the work pages, yet they will remember the songs and the actions. So - Cyber Safety

“But I've heard the words before,

It's sleeping in my memory.” I am a rock - “Simon and Garfunkel”

Digital Tool of the Week

Padlet Revisited:

Padlet now has an option to create an instant presentation of what the students wrote.

For example, if the students add a picture and text - Padlet will immediately show it in a presentation by clicking on the play arrow.

Kudos to you Padlet

Musical Joke of the Week

Bought a Bonnie Tyler sat nav. Still can’t find my way out of Paris.

P.S. A friend of mine has a vegetable patch. It stops the cravings for carrots all day.

Enjoy the weekend and have a Shabbat Shalom and a restful weekend.
