One more broadcast to go to reach 100

Listening to music and especially singing really helps me during times of stress. Whatever music works for you.

“Music has the power to heal, transform and inspire and we have the power through deep listening to increase our intuition and self awareness.”

– Andre Feriante, Award Winning Guitarist

“Music is the language of the spirit. It opens the secret of life bringing peace, abolishing strife.”

– Kahlil Gibran

“Hallelujah, sing a song

Hallelujah, we’ll follow along

With a simple word, a single word

We bless the sky, the tree, the bird

And we fill our heart with joy, Hallelujah”

Hallelujah was the Israeli entry at the Eurovision Song Contest 1979 in Jerusalem performed by Gali Atari & Milk and Honey. At times like these we could definitely use a word like Hallelujah to fill our hearts with joy.

I started with this as tomorrow night Noa Kirel will represent Israel at the Eurovision and we would like to wish the best of luck. Whether you are a fan of the song or not, Noa puts on an amazing show and is worthy to be there. I am impressed with her interviews that she conducts in English. “Kirel's song, which she co-wrote alongside Doron Medalie, Yinon Yahel and May Sfadia, lauds “the power of the unicorn, out here on my own,” which the singer has said is a message of acceptance and self empowerment.”

The other reason I started with Hallelujah and that I am still on a natural high is this:

Yesterday I organized a huge sing-along concert with the schools in my area that I am counseling. This was based on the huge concert in the North last year at Bet Shean Amphi.

Schools that took part were from different areas of the local council of Mateh Yehudah. The pupils learnt the songs throughout the year and came together to sing in English. We sang songs like “Hallelujah”,” A Million Dreams” from the “Greatest Showman", “Count on me” by Bruno Mars and more. Each school was asked to present a song of their choice as well.

Once again songs varied from Queen’s “We are the Champion” to Cyber Safety that we raved about a few broadcasts ago.

Cyber-Safety Week (From previous broadcast)

The Cyber-Safety Week will be run in all schools in Israel in the next few weeks.

Here are words to the chant we created and below is the song and the backing track. https://docs.google.com/document/d/1utTQjJAqKcf99uJLmM6ffEYFyFskXhBLFVrShofFtGM/edit?usp=sharing

Have a listen and enjoy. Sing it with your pupils at school and send us videos of them singing this song. Be safe on the web.

The process that the teachers and students underwent is clear. I will write down the main points briefly. Feel free to contact me for more details.

Learn in Tune - Singlish

Choose songs that the children will like to sing.

Encourage schools to learn the vocabulary via games created by the students for the students

Lots of repetition of singing the song in class

Add a dance of DJ Raphi for fun

Have the schools present a song of their own.

The smiles on the childrens’ faces were so amazing to see. The pupils sang with gusto (especially the choruses) and definitely worth all the effort that was put in to create such an incredible event.
