Good Morning – I often here people say that they can remember things that happened so many years ago, yet they can’t remember where they put their keys. OK you got me. I am like that.

Go back, go back, go back to the woods!

You haven't, you haven't, you haven't the goods.

You haven't the spirit, you haven’t the jazz

You haven’t the spirit that (Other team) has

This chant goes back to the 1940’s. However, this was one of our chants when I was at school. We were divided into school houses. Much like in the stories of “Harry Potter”. We had four houses named after four wild buck and I was in Kudu. There were many inter-house challenges. Even though this was decades ago, I can still remember the “war cries” or chants. This highlights the power of music and memory.

This site explains the concept well with some good ideas.

Another golden oldie that is making a comeback is, "Sing"

This song was first performed in 1971 on TV’s Sesame Street, but gained much wider exposure in the Carpenters' version two years later, which charted at No. 3 on Billboard’s Hot 100 chart.

Have a peak at both these versions.

*Learn in Tune Site*

I will be adding a Chemed section for songs that are religious in nature. Thanks to Alex Wexler and Rachelle Borenstein for starting us off.

I am eager to add a page of English songs for other ethnic groups and religions.

Please be in touch with me or fill in this form.

E-Talent Competition

Thanks to the many schools that have registered and have even sent in their performances. Today is the final day to register for the competition and then you will have two weeks to record the pupils. (They can record themselves as well). If you are still not sure I would recommend that you register today as there will not be a chance to register after today. By registering you receive a code for Flipgrid to record your pupils. Looking forward to seeing your pupils in our competition.

Count on you

Teachers: Can we count on you to join our massive singing project? You have 9 more days to record yourself and join all the English teachers in Israel.

*Digital Tool*

Many teachers ask me how best to capture my screen in a picture. I would mostly recommend the Snipping Tool (כלי חיתוך). This is available in Windows 7 – 10 computers. In Windows 10 I prefer to just hold down three buttons simultaneously. Windows + Shift + S

This saves a screenshot automatically to the clipboard.

Thanks for the wonderful rendition by Jennifer Lopez of “This Land is Your Land” at the Inauguration of President Joe Biden.
