And on that positive note -
Good Morning and welcome to the new school year. We would like to wish you a happy and educational year with your students and we will be here by your side providing you with ideas, links, digital tools and much more to enhance your lessons and make your English lessons even more of a learning experience for your classes.
If you are new to these broadcasts - Welcome and you can view our previous broadcasts here.
This whatsapp broadcast will come out every two weeks on a Friday. We will update you with what is hot off the press from the English Inspectorate and specifically with Learn in Tune and E-Talent.
Here is the link to share with your friends who want to join and haven’t yet.
Be in the know
I often hear teachers tell me that they didn’t know of a certain Professional Development Opportunity. Well know you can always be in the know
I highly recommend that you join this group - 4 Teachers - Updates
This is the official group of the English Inspectorate with all the newest updates.
Despite threats of a strike and a little uncertainty, we all went back to school. Young and old, teachers and students entered school for the new school year.
Make it a good year and a year that counts.
So the holidays were filled with lots of activities for Learn in Tune.
We ran another Professional Development course and another cohort of teachers are geared up and ready to include songs and digital tools in their teaching.
We were interviewed on a local radio station in Modiin. That was a lot of fun. Take a look at the clip -
We presented at Etai National Conference and one of our E-Talent winners - Saar Michael sang for the English Inspectorate this summer at Summer School. He was very well received - https://fb.watch/fhoBsScoLt/
I am very involved with school twinning and I believe this concept is a game changer in education. Be it teacher professional development, sharing different cultures, taking delegations across city/country borders - the options are endless. As cool as we want to be, nothing can replace the excitement of a student when they receive a letter or gift from a friend their own age. I was in South Africa and I was happy to see that learning with song is just as important there.
Here the school children are singing their school song with pride.
Music produces a kind of pleasure which human nature cannot do without. – Confucius
Icebreakers for your first week. These ideas can be adapted for any age
There are many more on the internet.
Digital Tool of the Week
Flip
Over the summer Flipgrid changed its name to Flip and whilst the product is still the same, there are constant updates and amazing things you can do. Flip allows the students to video themselves with many filters and backgrounds. Let the students read for you, give an oral presentation, or film making a type of food. You will be amazed at the results.
Musical Joke of the Week
(I will try and keep this up - yet due to lack of scope - a few dad jokes may slip in)
I stopped believing for a while last week.
I think Journey will not like that at all.
As you know these broadcasts are admin controlled and I miss the feedback. Thanks to the teachers that contact me directly. Here is a link to a Google form where I am just asking you for ideas for these broadcasts and our website - https://forms.gle/oKcY7degkd164opr9
